Day 37: A Window Through Time
The family, the dwelling house and the field are inseparable, because the woman is the heart of these, and they rest with her ... The man builds the house but the woman is the owner, because she repairs and preserves it. ~ Unknown Hopi; a view of the Wupatki community, presented to "the Washington Chiefs," 1894
This is one of the windows in Wukoki Pueblo, at Wupatki National Monument. It find it fascinating that people used this same window almost one thousand years ago. Even more incredible is the fact that this landscape hasn't really changed.
Today we drove up to Sunset Crater, a volcano, and Wuptaki. These national monuments are just to the northeast of Flagstaff.
