Day 108: Antelope Canyon

Never lose an opportunity of seeing anything that is beautiful; for beauty is God's handwriting - a wayside sacrament. Welcome it in ever fair face, in every fair sky, in every fair flower, and thank God for it as a cup of blessing. ~  Ralph Waldo Emerson

Antelope Canyon. It's a place I've dreamed of visiting for quite some time now. The most expensive photograph ever was taken in Antelope Canyon (it sold for 6.5 million in 2014). The sweeping sandstone walls of this slot canyon are stunning. The walls are some 50 feet high, and in some places the opening at the top is only one or two feet across. I visited Lower Antelope Canyon, rather than the more famous and more frequented Upper Antelope Canyon. Lower is actually below ground, and is V-shaped (the floor is narrower than the top opening) whereas Upper is above ground and A-shaped (the opening is narrower than the ground).

This is truly an awe-inspiring place.
