Day 104: Weed
If dandelions were hard to grow, they would be most welcome on any lawn. ~ Andrew Mason
I think it's kind of sad that dandelions are considered weeds. This bright shot of yellow is so cheerful. Several dandelions have popped up around the museum and, despite their weed status, they make me happy.

Day 103: Flowers
Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating; there is really no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather. ~ John Ruskin
The trees all around Flagstaff are blooming. I planned to photograph some of the flowers on the trees outside my apartment, but this plan failed. With high wind advisories, the blossoms were lifted from the branches and scattered upon the ground. Unfortunately, most of the blossoms here at my apartment that are at eye level (admittedly, not all that high for me) are gone. So, no lovely macro shots of the flowers as I had planned.

Day 102: Lava Tubes
If you've never jumped from one couch to another to avoid the lava, you've never had a childhood. ~ Unknown
Today we went out to Lava River Cave, or the lava tubes. This cave was formed by flowing lava from one of the eruptions of the many volcanoes surrounding Flagstaff. We crawled down through a small opening, and then hiked almost a mile to the end of the cave. It was a neat experience. In some places, the cave ceiling is thirty feet high, but in others it is only two feet. The cave is a relatively constant temperature all year - 30-40 degrees, so there were quite a few icy spots as well.
Of course, after hiking a mile underground, any hint of sunlight is gone. It's a little surreal to turn off all of the flashlights and headlamps at the end of the cave. The darkness is so absolute, and even after several minutes it was impossible to see even my hand in front of my face.
This was definitely a hike worth taking!

Day 101: Digestives
Nine times out of ten, you probably aren't having a full-on nervous breakdown - you just need a cup of tea and a biscuit. ~ Caitlin Moran
I had originally titled this post "Bikkies," but was unsure exactly how to spell it. I typed it in online and discover that bikkie is both a slang term for biscuits and for ecstasy pills. Lest anyone get the wrong idea, I simply changed the title
That being said, I love World Market. I often treat myself with food, and this time around I grabbed a roll of chocolate covered McVitie's digestive biscuits and coconut curry pretzel pearls. Both are delicious, but it was the digestives that made my tea time today particularly enjoyable.

Day 100: Lizard
Today I did some light hiking with a friend and we spotted this guy sunning himself on a rock. I had a difficult time getting my camera to focus on the lizard rather than the rock.

Day 99: Hair Cut
I finally bit the bullet today and got my hair cut. I haven't cut it since ... gasp .. May! It's possible I had a few split ends. Of course, I will never be able to style it quite like the stylist did. It's always hard for me to get my hair cut, but it's nice to have fresh spring/summer style.

Day 98: Ginger
I always love cuddling with this girl at small group. I've mentioned it before, but it's always nice to get my dog fix. Still, I want one of my own!
